Winter Cabin or Tent Overnight Outing & Training
Enjoy walks on the (frozen) beach. Experience Lake Michigan's shoreline and the natural surroundings of Point Beach State Park, frozen in winter's grasp.
Activities:
- Hiking
- Novice level Skiing and Snowshoeing (conditions permitting, equipment not provided)
- Enjoying the outdoors and meals with friends
- Winter stargazing (conditions permitting)
- Sleeping in your choice of tent or rustic cabin
Requirements:
- Experience required - none
- Be prepared to carry all personal gear a distance of 1.5 miles
- Must be prepared for sleeping at low temperatures
- Must dress for outdoor winter activities
- Bring a positive attitude and be prepared for outdoor discovery
- Willingness to participate in group duties (meals and wood carrying)
Cost:
$15-20 depending on number of participants. 3 meals and cost of cabin (night of Feb 27th) included. State Park automobile permit sticker required (Transportation not provided, but carpooling encouraged).
Accommodations:
These are rustic accommodations in a large, one-room cabin with beds for 14 people. No electricity, limited wood heat, outdoor toilets and outdoor kitchen. Tent sites are also available with advance notice.
*This outing is a provisional leader training and is considered an "overnight, away from cars".
