Lake Park Indian Mound Centennial Celebration
Join Lake Park Friends for the Lake Park Indian Mound Centennial Celebration. This event is being held in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the preservation of Milwaukee's last remaining prehistoric mound (circa 2000 years old). A number of distinguished speakers representing several statewide cultural organizations and communities will address local and statewide efforts to preserve Wisconsin's vanishing cultural heritage.
Following the re-dedication, the public are invited to UWM's Department of Anthropology (Sabin Hall, room F90) to hear Kevin Cullen (Archaeology Associate, Discovery World) give a presentation on his recent archaeological work along Milwaukee's lakefront, including Lake Park.
Mr. Cullen's presentation will be followed by the annual meeting of the Wisconsin Archaeological Society, to which all are welcome. For more information, contact Kurt Sampson at (414) 405-4367 or [email protected].
