Blessing & Dedication: A Place to Sit a success!
Mother Nature may not have been as cooperative as we would have liked, but the Blessing and Dedication of A Place to Sit was a memorable event. We are grateful to those of you who were able to attend and participate.
Our heartfelt thanks to: Mr. Roger Thomas, Bad River Lake Superior Ojibwe Elder for the Blessing; to Mr. John Clifford, Rosebud Lakota Elder for the Smudging; and Mr. Alan Kuhn, Menomonie-Ojibwe Pipe Carrier for the Honor Song, and Traveling Song-along with his singing companions.
kathryn e. martin the artist, said this about her work:
"The high-back chairs of A Place to Sit honor the spirit and people of Wisconsin's American Indian tribes. In their tradition of cooperating with others to share in the bounty of the Menomonee Valley, all are invited to gather and share in the rich history and promising future of this area."
