Hawley Road Bridge installed on Hank Aaron Trail

By Tom Held of the Journal Sentinel

A construction crew beat the wind Monday night and installed a 100-foot bridge over Hawley Rd. that will carry bikers and pedestrians on the Hank Aaron State Trail.

Installation of the key link in the trail extension was delayed last week due to problems in transporting the span to the construction site.

The bridge went in about 10 p.m., in front of a small but enthusiastic group of neighbors, who set up lawn chairs and cheered the workers from Edward Kraemer & Sons as they executed the lift.

Melissa Cook, trail manager from the State Department of Natural Resources, said the bridge is scheduled to open in about one week, after the decking is poured and railings are installed.
