This year’s Taste of the Great Lakes featured the best turnout ever for the Alliance’s annual Chicago fundraising event.

In all, 278 supporters attended the June 17 gala, inaugurating a new lakefront location aboard the Columbia Yacht Club’s Abegweit ship in Chicago’s Monroe Harbor.

“The biggest highlight of all was the new location -- what a view!” said event coordinator Martha Borie Wood.

“Every person I spoke with at the Taste -- board member, board member spouses, volunteers, members, agency contacts, colleagues from other non-profits, friends of supporters, staff spouses or significant others -- said that it was a great party, great location and a fun group of people,” she said.

The event raised more than $61,000 for the Alliance’s Great Lakes protection programs, making it the most successful Taste yet in terms of fundraising.
