Take Action before March 14 to keep the Great Lakes Compact strong!

In 2008, thousands of conservation voters, like you, helped ensure that our Great Lakes water would be protected for future generations through the Great Lakes Compact. You probably already know about the proposal – from Wisconsin – that could start chipping away at the strong compact we fought so hard to pass.

Despite strong opposition, Gov. Walker forwarded the proposal onto the other Great Lakes Governors and Canadian Providence Premiers for approval. With the eyes of all these decision-makers on us, we need to make sure they see that Wisconsin citizens are overwhelmingly opposed to this plan.

Contact decision makers across the Great Lakes right now to stand up for a strong Great Lakes Compact!

The Great Lakes are one of the natural wonders of the world. They enrich our lives, provide an ecosystem we depend upon for life, and serve as an economic engine for our state. The Great Lakes contain 20 percent of the world’s fresh surface water and provide drinking water to more than 40 million people.

It’s no wonder that other thirsty states and countries often look to our Great Lakes to solve their water problems and fuel their growth by syphoning off our water. Thanks to the Great Lakes Compact, that is no longer an option.

It took years of negotiations and the support of more than 40 elected officials, 50 organizations, and 7,000 citizens, like you, to pass this historic legislation.

Now, if we don’t act soon, Wisconsin could be the first state to jeopardize the compact. Find out how at the link below:
