Water Quality Monitor

Join Milwaukee Riverkeeper in helping to monitor and keep Milwaukee area rivers healthy!

We are recruiting volunteers to monitor water quality within the Milwaukee River watershed, the Menomonee River watershed, and the Kinnickinnic River watershed. Milwaukee Riverkeeper has been actively monitoring sites since 2006 and is continuing to expand our initiative to protect our rivers.

Water Quality Monitors collect data at least once a month from spring through fall at a designated river site. Using instruments supplied by Milwaukee Riverkeeper, you will track temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, clarity, and macroinvertebrates. The data is put into online databases where it can be utilized by the public and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) in assessment and management decisions. Milwaukee Riverkeeper uses this data as part of the Southeastern Wisconsin Watersheds Trust (SWWT) goal in improving water quality.

We will be holding training sessions in May for our new season of water quality monitors. For more information, visit https://milwaukeeriverkeeper.org/riverkeeper/citizenbased.htm.
