Hike in Monches Segment of the Ice Age Trail
Join Cheri Briscoe at 9:00 a.m. for a gem of a hike. This is the season for trillium, trout lilies, mushrooms, warblers and rejoicing.
This trail climbs the bank remnants of a glacial melt water spillway, then crosses a meadow before we descend to the rippling melodies of the Oconomowoc River and a spring where skunk cabbage and marsh marigolds grow. We will stop occasionally for awe and learning opportunities. We will hike about 3 miles in and back for a total of about 6 miles. Bring binoculars for bird watching. Afterwards we will stop at Uncle Johnny's in Colgate for lunch.
We’ll meet at the intersection of Waukesha County, Hwy Q and K. The hike is moderate with a hill and some uneven ground. Unless there is lightning we will hike rain or shine, so dress appropriately. Contact Cheri Briscoe for reservations.
